WAITING ON A WORD FROM GOD

I’ve noticed that I find things I look for, maybe not as soon as I want them but eventually things I look for tend to turn up. The more specific I am about what I’m looking for the more likely I am to find exactly that item, solution, person or answer.

Right now I’m looking for a word from God for this Sunday, not just any word, but the one that will meet the needs of those that will be there in our Sunday morning services. You see its Mothers day this Sunday and so the needs this week will be different than last week or next week. The single mums who didn’t get a mothers day gift will be there, mums – young and old, will be there, the couples that weren’t able to have children will be there, the children for whom Mothers day brings back hurtful memories of a less than storybook mum will be there, the family who lost their mum to breast cancer on mothers day weekend last year will be there and because we gather in His name, Jesus will be there. What would He say? Would he list out a 3-point plan on how they can improve their parenting skills? Would He point out their deficiencies? Would He lay the blame for their children’s bad table manners, poor dress sense and television viewing taste on their weary burdened shoulders or maybe, just maybe He would say ……

You see, these are the words I’m waiting on, they’re specific, they’re straight from the throne of heaven and they’ll be here in time for Sunday morning. Now, where did I put my keys?
